NSTG was set up in the late 1980s by a group of volunteers and we now have members all over Norfolk (and beyond). Each month we organise low-cost training courses and over the spring and summer we have visits to each other's holdings. We hold monthly meetings with speakers on topics to do with smallholding, self-sufficiency and traditional crafts. The Group holds the NSTG Annual Show in August and also attends various local shows with members manning the stall (Spring Fling, Aylsham Show for example). We have links with the Suffolk Smallholders and Norfolk Organic Gardeners and offer our members the opportunity to attend their events too. The group is run by a committee of volunteers. Excess funds are used to enhance the service offered to NSTG members. In November 2004 the Group obtained charitable status - Charity Number 1106934.
As a member you are able to attend courses at half the price a non-member would pay. NSTG offers to its members: equipment loan, book and DVD lending, trade discounts from suppliers, up to twelve editions a year of the NSTG publication Harrowing Times (which includes news, reviews and pictures of recent courses, visits and talks. It also contains articles that our members have written about smallholding matters they would like to share.), advice helplines on all matters of smallholding, and extensive members access to the website which includes Forums and opportunities to offer items for sale/advertise your wares. If you would like to join the NSTG or require further details use the Membership : Contact link to the left.
Login to the Members area of the website - if your login details do not work use the Website Access : Members Area link to the left to request a new username and password.
If you can't get into the members area, perhaps you haven't paid your subs ...
If you pay by standing order, please make sure the description relates to you, not a business.
Problems with the website
Sorry for the problems with the website. Our hosting supplier claimed that some of the files that drive the website were compromised then disabled the website with only 2 days notice. Needless to say, the website was OK and it took a lot of arguing on the phone and by email to get the issue resolved - they eventually backed down because I had the technical knowledge to prove them wrong. Recovering the site is in progress - the forum is now working. Please let me know, via Mary the website manager, of any issues. Paul Morris 29.03.2013.
